Multi-platinum pop sensation Preston Pablo drops his latest hit, Selfish. The song highlights his silky vocals paired with a catchy rhythm and lively instrumentation. “Selfish” marks an exciting progression in Preston’s artistic journey, highlighting his innovation and magnetic presence.
Selfish follows closely after the recent single “Cause I Do,” marking Preston’s first new music of 2026. These two songs are his initial original releases since the 2024 debut EP Anywhere But Here, which featured the viral sensation “Dance Alone.”
Fundamentally, “Selfish” is a track centered on confidence and self-assurance. Driven by a captivating bass groove, the song radiates just the right level of boldness that ties all components together. The words tell the tale of an individual radiating unmistakable ‘leading role confidence,’ someone fully aware of their desires and determined to achieve them no matter what. “This is one of those songs I’ve been trying to make for a long time. I’ve always loved bassline-driven records, and for a while I’ve been chasing my own version of that sound,” Preston shares on his latest release. “At its core, Selfish is a simple song. The production is stripped back, but everything is intentional the melody, the pocket, the swing of the drums. That’s what makes songs like this surprisingly hard to get right.”
“Selfish carries a confident, moody, almost cocky energy,” Preston adds. “It’s about wanting something or someone so deeply that nothing else really matters. It’s that moment where logic goes out the window and all that’s left is the end goal. The day we wrote it, it instantly became one of my favourites. That’s why I knew it had to be one of the first songs I released after taking some time away from music.”
“Selfish” was produced by Keith “Ten4” Sorrells and Oscar Linnander. Sorrells co-wrote and co-produced on John Legend’s Grammy-winning album Bigger Love. His work with Demi Lovato on “I Love Me” and also co-wrote and co-produced Lovato’s entire eighth album, Holy Fvck. Linnander is a versatile producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who has collaborated with Kehlani, Demi Lovato, Jamie Fine, and more.
